bELIeve in Children Campaign - Fundraising Luncheon

Rusty Pelican Restaurant: August 28, 2016

Last year's fundraising luncheon was a huge success, and a wonderful afternoon filled with love and support. This year, we will be back at the lovely Rusty Pelican Restaurant in Key Biscayne, FL for the 2nd annual bELIeve In Children fundraising luncheon.

The event will be held on Sunday August 28, 2016 at 12 noon. Tickets for the event are expected to sell out again, so check back here soon for details on reserving your spot. You won't want to miss this wonderful opportunity!

We are pleased to share with you that our group bELIeve in Children is actively engaged in assisting Hospital La Mascota and Casa Albergue in Managua, Nicaragua.

Hospital La Mascota is the only public hospital in Nicaragua dedicated to treating children afflicted with cancer. Casa Albergue is a nonprofit organization located on the grounds of the hospital and dedicated to housing children and one family member while they receive treatment at the hospital. Many families travel from remote villages throughout Nicaragua and would not have a place to stay if it were not for Casa Albergue. In addition to providing a place to stay, Casa Albergue also feeds, nourishes, supervises, and provides psychological and spiritual support amongst many other needed services to the children and family member.

bELIeve in Children, through your generous donations, was able to provide for one year:

  • A full time nurse for Hospital La Mascota. Hospital La Mascota currently has a 20 patient to 1 nurse ratio. The norm at a fully staffed hospital is 4 to 1. Many patients are initially diagnosed in the late stages requiring additional care supervision. Anyone who has stayed at or visited a hospital understands that nurses are the life blood of any hospital.

  • A full time nurse solely dedicated to the patients housed at Casa Albergue. This nurse is needed to monitor and care for the children in between treatments at Hospital La Mascota. The nurse is also responsible for educating their parents on how and when to provide medicine to their children after they leave the hospital.

  • Nourishment in the form of PediaSure and Ensure and other high value nutritional items that are imported into Nicaragua. Nutrition is extremely important in a child’s recover from chemotherapy treatments.

  • Cleaning and sanitary supplies. Chemotherapy depletes the body’s immune system and makes one very susceptible to infections, which can be fatal. These cleaning supplies are vital in maintaining a healthy and sanitary environment.

bELIeve in Children is fully supported by compassionate donors like you. With your continued support, we are able to continue providing services to children in need and provide them with a better quality of life.

Please open your heart and donate by sending a check payable to Dancers With Cancer/bELIeve in Children Campaign or through PayPal at www.DancerswithCancer.org. Every little bit counts!  Please share the word with your families and friends.

We may not be able to change the world, but we can make a difference one child at a time.
